Presentation: Activism and Advocacy During War Time

Date: Saturday 5th April

Time: 13.30 – 14.10

Duration: 40 minutes

Description:

In times of war, the focus is often on human suffering, but the plight of animals is frequently overlooked. This talk delves into the efforts of animal rights activists in Lebanon, who risk their lives to rescue and protect animals amidst ongoing conflict.
Activists from organizations and individuals have been working tirelessly to save animals, often venturing into bombarded areas to rescue cats, dogs, and even wildlife. These efforts are not without immense challenges: damaged infrastructure, financial constraints, and the constant threat of violence make their missions more dangerous. The talk will also explore the broader implications of war on animals, including the psychological trauma they endure and the abandonment by fleeing families. It also highlights how individuals affected by war and displacement act towards other animals in such hard times.

Demand 2: Redirect
•  Promote plant-based foods, declare a climate emergency, and support small farmers.
